Raise the blade for expert riders and lower for beginning riders. When the rider falls and you slow down to pick them up the blade will return to a neutral position reducing drag. When the rider is ready the blade will stay in neutral until the rider is back up and then goes back to the last setting making the operation hands off. Steering is improved with the pivoting blade which acts as a second rudder. While backing this pivoting action will help you back. Just set the blade with a slight foward thrust and the blade will allow the boat to back against the crawl. For the skiers in your boat we have another solution, bring the blade back to neutral and the negative angle will lift the stern giving your skier a flat wake.
